"Nice speech...oh, look--I just shot off your legs with a nice little AP rocket barrage. Have fun in hell, you grandstanding moron!"
--- Artillery Guy with Common Sense, during the same battle, before calling in a quick battery on the down Mech's position. One of the shells pierced the ammo magazines and detonated inside. Witnesses on both sides have claimed that not a single piece of debris was left of the machine.
Ah, my mistake on both counts. Upon closer inspection, I realised it was a T-bolt that I had mistaken for a Griffin. And I should have picked up on the triple-ppc beam fired by the other tank. I just remember facing off against a Lance of those Damned Alacorns back when I used to play regularly with friends.
Reminds me of the fastest kill in a match I ever witnessed: First shot of the game, center torso crit resulting in one hit and the player thought it'd be the best place to store the Marauders AC/5 ammo...
Walk through the shadow of the valley of rage and I fear no downvote.
Regardless of what people say, MWO is a FANTASTIC game in its current state. Large selection of IS mechs. Lot's of customization. Painting options, even at the free level. Plenty of maps.
Does the game need improvement? Yes. Were we PROMISED anything? No. Did PGI steal our money when we invested in their game? No. WE took the financial risks on THEIR game, and THEY decided how they wanted to use THEIR money that THEY made. MWO is WAY better than any battlefield or call of duty I used to play.
Do I see the game improving? yes. Do I see beautiful art like this continuing? Yes. You cannot stop progress, one way or the other.
Actually...Yes. They promised a much more expansive game than what they have now and they stated that they'd be able to deliver it before the 2013/3050 calendar year. They ran into more problems than they figured. If I were to guess, it is because they switched game engines in early development. Instead of sticking with Unreal Engine (MW3015), they thought they could get a developmental short cut by using programming code from MW:LL. Unfortunately Cryengine 3 isn't that good for netcode and is an incredible resource hog which just adds on to the issues at hand.
The majority of the recent updates have been a few maps and some reworked models of existing 'mechs they've had in their inventory. I've read the forums and the players want what PGI did promise them. Stuff like Community Warfare, better matching, Innersphere Star Map, planetary maps, etc. The stuff that PGI stated they'd bring into the game back in 2011. Right now it's Hero Mechs and random maps.
Is there any wonder why those players that actually pay attention are upset and frustrated?
You weren't promised a damn thing. You were TOLD that the game could get more expansive in time, and given a rough schedule. Quite obviously they changed the release schedule. Like, REALLY obviously. They've even changed their focus. As SOON as battlefield 3 released, battlefield 4 was in the making. There was no pause. MWO, on the other hand, was announced and put into closed beta pretty quickly. So trying to make a triple A game behind closed doors gets no heat, but openly developing the game, in WHATEVER direction the developers damn well please, gets torched.
When a youtuber streams, and he asks the audience what game he/she should play, and chooses a game you don't want to watch, do you keep watching? Do you spam the chat box with stupid crap? No. You either suck it up or stop watching. Why the hell would I be angry at SpOoKy up there if he made a picture of The davion's beating the crap out of kurita (Which he did)? Just because YOU don't like something, doesn't mean the developer has to do what you want. Just because a GROUP of people doesn't like something, doesn't mean you need to comply. Politicians do it, corporations do it, TV does it, and game developers, no matter what kind of game, are allowed to do it. Just like SpOoKy here can make whatever art he wants.
If YOU don't like what's going on, you should stop investing and leave the game. Stop poisoning the game's forums. I'm here to look/play at the ONLY MECHWARRIOR GAME ON THE MARKET. I choose to keep supporting because in it's current state, the game is actually pretty awesome. I haven't played any mechs other than mediums and a few heavies, and some lights. There is PLENTY of content for me. It can only get better with more mechs, the SABER PACKAGE MECHS coming this week, and a new map. If you don't like it, fuck right off. I'm gonna stay and keep playing a great game IN ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT that can only get better. It's not my fault you invested in something that isn't paying the fun dividends you wanted. That's what happens with money. It's my personal opinion that we need to stop acting like a bunch of entitled, spoiled brats and wait it out. Even then, what happens if they don't release the content you want? It's still a pretty awesome 'mech shoot em up. Look at how much Call of Duty sells, and it's just a standard dude shooter.
Leave me alone. I don't want your poison. I'm gonna keep playing. Maybe even spend some cash on more mech bays so I can keep unlocking mechs and expand my playing experience. If you don't like it, leave. No one's keeping you. you made the investment risks. you live with the consequences.
And to give some context, no. I'm not some whiny little 14 year old who gets money from his mom. I'm 19, almost twenty who makes his own damn cash and is THANKFUL FOR WHAT HE HAS.
I am TIRED of the toxicity. It's making me sick, enough to make me show it. We're complaining over a fucking game when children in africa starve every day and the governments of the world bear down on us and try to stop our internet freedom, of all things. I think we can nut up and deal with a little lateness on the game. And yes, I have anger issues. I've been through an incredibly rough childhood. Not that it matters.
I have read the forums lately. It's so disgusting and negative. "You're stealing our money!" "You promised us A!" People shouldn't be whining if they invested. They took the financial risk of investing, and PGI and IGP decided how to use the money. I'm perfectly alright with everything they've done so far. Coolshot isn't ridiculously OP as far as I've seen. Third person Hasn't really broken the game. I rarely see it used, and even then I see it mostly with new players. Airstikes and arty: They get annoying when you get hit by one, but seeing how they are finally capable of hurting mechs that means we are getting more bang for our buck. I think this is a solid game, and people are blind with rage. I would like U.I. 2.0 and community warfare, but they come with time. This game only has 2 years out right now, and is on the verge of being an incredibly solid contender to bet off major titles.
YOu however, mr. spooky. You keep doing what you do best. I like art of exploding robots.
